This week, my husband and I have tried out programming together. We’re writing a game together in Java. It has already been a huge amount of fun to me. Not only do I get to enjoy spending time with my husband, but we’re accomplishing something. Neither of us has coded in a while, so this is refreshing and fun.

As I return to programming, I remember why I like it so much. It’s like getting lost in another world. Almost like getting lost in a book. We can start programming and not notice that time has gone by until I get hungry 3 hours later. And I learn a lot by working with my husband. He’s way more familiar with Java than I am.

One interesting thing about returning to programming is that it makes me write more. I’m anxious to return to my story, and my mind flows easily from one idea to the next. Yesterday I was writing in my book, and I found that I forgot where I was physically as I wrote. That has only happened for me when I’m reading a book before, so this was really exciting. I’m starting to see the world I’m creating and I’m having fun.
